Carys Walsh

Le Quotidien

Carys Elen Walsh is an illustrator who hopes to specialise in all manner of story illustration. She’s drawn to film, with a particular interest in the works of Wes Anderson and Hayao Miyazaki, and takes artistic inspiration from the art nouveau period of the early 1900s.  Stemming from a teenage love of all things costume design, Carys has a passion for the past, and much of her work revolves around the attire from times gone by.

“For my final project, I have chosen to illustrate a series of scenes for a silent book entitled Le Quotidien, which translates to The Everyday Life.
With these illustrations, I want to show scenes of simplicity and peace in solitude. I believe that there is a wonderful beauty in doing seemingly mundane things alone and that it shouldn’t be something to shy away from, but something to embrace!”
